Nathan Johnson’s Expertise I am a seasoned, highly experienced maritime incident response and law enforcement professional known for a combination of strategic and tactical leadership capabilities, tenacity, focus, resilience and interpersonal strengths. Backed by 29 years of extensive experience in maritime incident response and law enforcement settings, I have played an instrumental role in coordinating the timely and integrated response of commonwealth government to many maritime incidents across the entire breadth of the Australian EEZ. I take enormous pride for being part of the fast-paced, customer-focused Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), working closely with government and non-government agencies to ensure the organisation plays its role in helping the authority deliver an outstanding service. As a safety champion, I have a deep level of understanding and respect for legislation, standards and procedures concerning health, safety and environmental protection. Being a constructive leader and collaborative team player, I have the ability to encourage a dynamic, positive and productive work environment while fostering a culture of engagement and goal alignment. To ensure and maintain a state of response readiness, preparedness and resilience, I lead the creation, implementation and execution of bold, innovative and practical learning design and solutions focused on supporting talent and grounded in business priorities. As a teacher, mentor and educator, I apply my expert knowledge of learner-centric instructional design and learning technologies, as well as adult learning principles to help develop and retain talent while creating a culture of learning. Moreover, I have a talent for reputation management and stakeholder relations, with proven ability to embed a culture of continuous improvement. I approach work with a creative, problem solving mindset that promotes teamwork and values different perspectives. I have a friendly and approachable disposition, which throughout my career, has allowed employees at all levels to come to me at any time with any questions or concerns they have. Embracing a flexible approach to my work, I understand and accept change as a necessity for a dynamic organisation; committed to performance and expeditious in taking action to solve complex problems in a high-stress environment.
