This has been primarily in the tugboat and commercial shipping sectors, my rolls have varied from tugboat Captain to marine management and eventually rising to the rank of State Pilot. In my last roll as State Pilot I was responsible for piloting vessels into and out of the port of Portsmouth and Newington New Hampshire, in this roll I was also tasked with acting as a Mooring Master for various types of ships from gas carriers to bulk ships. I also vetted ships for the terminals in the port ensuring that the proposed vessels met port requirements and would be appropriate for the terminal in size and layout. One of the projects that I spearheaded was the 2019 Waterways Analysis of the Piscataqua River. The goal of this project was to enhance the safety of navigation upon the described waterway while maintaining a realistic budget for the USCG Aids to Navigation Team. In this project I coordinated with the United States Coast guard, New Hampshire Port Authority, US Navy Pilot, Maine and New Hampshire Harbor Masters and the local tugboat companies. After meeting with the various groups I drafted my recommendations to the USCG where I made recommendations regarding all of the local aids to navigation on the river.
