During my tenure with the Washington Ballet, I was elected by my peers to serve as the company representative (a liaison between management and the dancers) because of my ability to easily communicate with others. When the dancers became involved in and ultimately negatively affected by a labor dispute with management, I was chosen by the dancers' union, AGMA, and the AFL-CIO to serve as a spokesperson for change in the nation's labor legislature (Employee Free Choice Act). My communication skills allowed me to serve as one of the speakers at the National Conference on State Legislatures. Due to my involvement in large part, the Act was made a bill March 1, 2007. As of 2006, I began to focus on my career in the hospitality field. My education in business administration gave me a solid foundation and provided many opportunities to sharpen my managerial skills. I began as a part-time bartender and within a month was promoted to the position of manager. I excelled in leading a staff of over 100 people at a business that grossed over $6 million dollars a year annually. It required me to oversee and facilitate the daily FOH and BOH operations of an extremely high volume restaurant/lounge, including all internal and external entertainment and events. The year of 2009 found me at yet another chapter of my life and by maintaining my integrity, I was blessed with the opportunity to forge ahead in my career.
