And I was more interested to know how the “trick” worked than the magic itself. Science quickly became my passion and growing up, and I could not see myself being anything but a researcher. Today, as a biophysicist, I am confident that I will be able to learn and give back what I gained to the scientific community. I've spent the last few years understanding how the human body works. I have worked extensively in medical imaging, mapping out the brain and tumour metabolism. My mind pieces together the pictures I see to create a story. I guess it makes sense because I have always been a storyteller first. It all started with writing silly imaginary stories when I was younger, until the day I picked up a camera and discovered another medium to express myself. Photography soon became a passion of mine. Along the way, I learned that I am a very visual learner and that I pay a lot of attention to the details. My passion for photography has taught me a thing or two about science. I learnt while the low-resolution-grainy MRI scans could never match up to my sharp and detail-oriented macro lens, they both fulfil the same purpose of finding a different perspective of the world around us. Both require patience; we all know how time-consuming those MRI scans can be but are often rewarded with beautiful results. More importantly, pictures are an opportunity for us to make memories. Every MRI scan holds a memory; everything I have photographed is a beautiful memory that I will cherish forever.
