Norah Andrews’s Expertise In August 2014, I began a position as Visiting Assistant Professor in Latin American History at Northern Arizona University. In May 2014, I received my Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University. My dissertation is called, “Taxing Blackness: Tribute and Free-colored Community in Colonial Mexico.” My recent research contributes to the fields of women’s and gender history, Africana and Latin American Studies, and history of the Atlantic World. My teaching interests include world history before 1900, gender in Latin America, religion in the Iberian Empires, and colonial Mexico.
