After 3 successful years in the Business & Commercial division and following advice from my mentors, I secured a role in the Corporate Banking division of RBS covering Financial Institutions and Professional Services with revenues between 50m-4bn. Although Relationship Management was a key requirement for this role, the sophistication of the clients required financial prowess to cater to the complex nature of transactions. As I got more senior in the role, my responsibilities grew to include delivering on key stakeholder projects which enhanced my exposure to senior management. After 7 years and following various business transformations at RBS, I was after a different challenge. This led me to AIB where I joined as an Associate covering the Hotels and leisure sector. However, after some time in the role, I decided to take a career break following the birth of my third child. Whilst on paternity, I continued to work on my self-development by passing the CFA level 1 exam. I also had time to give back to the community by volunteering as a Maths teacher at a supplementary school as well as mentoring young students. To stay vested and up to date in the financial markets, I made the decision to transfer my pension from Legal & General to a self-managed account. Deloitte
