Patrick Mcmenamin’s Expertise In 2006 I moved to Budapest to open and establish The Caledonia Scottish Bar, Restaurant and Gift Shop. The Caledonia is now a popular venue for local Hungarians, expats and visitors to Budapest. We are the only bar in Hungaray to feature in The Whisky Bars of the World published by The Whisky Magazine. We also won The Best Pub in Hungary as part of the Best of British Awards organised by The Telegraph. We sit at 54 out of 1458 places listed on Tripadvisor. Prior to my move to Budapest I spent over 20 years working in the voluntary/NGO sector. I helped to establish the yourh information charity Young Scot and launched the Young Scot Discount Card in 1984 and researched and published 6 editions of the Young Scot handbook for school leavers. I also spent time working for YouthLink Scotland as their Head of Youth Research and International Affairs, and The National Youth Agency. Despite running a business here in Budapest, I have retained my interest in charitable work and am actively involved in the work of The Robert Burns International Foundation and The Irish Hungarian Business Circle. In 2012 I won the Gift of the Gab public speaking competition in Budapest.
