Paul Hunt’s Expertise I trained at Guys and St Thomas’s Medical School in London and joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1996 on a cadetship. I completed higher specialist training in 2012 and hold a dual CCT in both Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. I have deployed on military operational duties to Northern Ireland and Iraq as an Infantry Regimental Medical Officer, and again to Iraq and Afghanistan (3 tours) as an Emergency Physician. I deployed to Sierra Leone in support of the humanitarian mission to assist the Ebola crisis in Western Africa and most recently Defence Healthcare Engagement missions with an overseas partner nation. To date I have written or contributed to over 15 original articles in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored 2 textbooks and book chapters for 7 further titles. I completed my Doctorate of Medicine (University of London) in 2011 with my thesis on Mild Traumatic Brain Injury. My main subject matter interests are trauma critical care, Emergency Preparedness Response and Recovery, Traumatic Brain Injury, clinical leadership and training, medical ethics, healthcare engagement, and healthcare innovations and technology. My most recent area of professional activity is in helping to shape digital solutions to collective training and assessment; development and integration of new technologies and innovations, Data Science applications and in exploring opportunities for redistributed manufacturing in deployed healthcare. My aim would be to pursue a portfolio career with the long term aim of undertaking coherent research and road-testing to assess and adopt novel technologies for healthcare. My other interests and hobbies include swimming, running, skiing, scuba-diving, books (especially Sci-fi and detective fiction) and movies, chess, puzzles ... basically anything geeky!
