Paul Jarvis’s Expertise Away from the UK for 30 years and with good fortune to work with many global organisations, my experience covers a wide range of business challenges and projects covering over 60 countries. I am creative yet pragmatic and tend to work in companies selling services and technological solutions where routes to market and the quantification of value are often far from easy. My value comes from a range of consulting, training and coaching services that are aligned to improvements targeted by the client. This usually means focusing on either Business Model and Operations, or on the Executive and Management Skill-set or both. 1. Business Model and Operations Business model and financial performance are intrinsically linked, and I consult and train all aspects of this relationship. This may be done interactively in group workshops where we open our minds and get creative about client value and analyze how to better quantify this as perceived by partner networks, customers and other stakeholders. Strong business and financial acumen are key requirements for success in many job roles and I work this approach either for the whole business or in more focused areas such as helping Sales and Account Managers and their teams better define their business relationship with specific key accounts. Despite this being an essential step towards better business outcomes it is just theory until the day arrives to implement the new plans and have particular individuals put them into practice. And this means spending time working with teams in specific job roles. 2. Executive and Management Skill-Sets In general, one could say that professional competencies rely on: 1. Appropriate knowledge required to successfully fulfill a particular job role 2. Practices and tools that support productive and profitable working 3. Professional relationship skills that deliver success in person to person engagement The first two are about “learning and doing” and are definable and easily taught when focusing on the business model and operations as above. But number three is about how an individual does what they do. And this is often the key differentiator between hitting or missing a planned target. I consult, train and coach a range of communication skills to create new behaviors that deliver better results in both personal and professional lives. The focus with an individual depends. It may be “internal” (such as overcoming fear of giving presentations), “relationship” (in terms of team and group working) or “leadership” (for managing the motivation and output of others).
