Paul Marshall’s Expertise With over 25 years of experience in higher education policy and leadership, Professor Paul Marshall serves as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Careers and Enterprise) and Professor of Educational Leadership and Enterprise at the University of East London (UEL). In this role, he drives strategic initiatives to enhance career development, employability, and entrepreneurship among students and manages a global network of academic partners teaching over 20,000 UEL students. Professor Marshall is an active member of several national and international advisory groups, where he influences higher education policies and practices globally. Professor Marshall's career includes numerous influential positions and significant accomplishments in higher education. As CEO of the Chartered Association of Business Schools, he advanced the interests of business schools and built robust partnerships with the business community and government. His tenure as Executive Director of the 1994 Group of universities saw him leading strategic direction and advocacy for a consortium of world-class research-intensive institutions. In addition to his leadership roles, Professor Marshall founded and chaired the UPP Foundation, a corporate charity dedicated to supporting universities in their pursuit of excellence and civic engagement. His innovative leadership and commitment to higher education have earned him numerous awards and honors, including recognition for his contributions to educational policy and university-business collaboration. He is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, sharing insights on higher education trends, leadership, and innovation. Professor Marshall holds a PhD in American History, specialising in the political history of the 1930s. His approach to leadership emphasises the importance of historical context and critical analysis in decision-making processes. At UEL, Professor Marshall has launched several transformative initiatives which have enhanced the student experience and outcomes. These include establishing cutting-edge career services, entrepreneurship programs, and industry partnerships that provide students with real-world learning opportunities and pathways to employment.
