  I have over a decade of experience developing molecular biology, cellular biology and biochemical assays, tools and technologies in the context of early drug discovery and lab automation. Along the way I gained in-depth understanding of the biology of dozens of diseases and drug targets. In essence, I am both a biologist and a technologist. I started my career studying the fascinating behavior of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in cancer, and later on developed techniques to systematically profile specificity of MMPs using proteomics and automation tools. During those years I developed a strong interest in systems and high-throughput approaches to biology. In 2010, I became a member of the Conrad Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and ventured into small molecule drug discovery. At the Center we applied diligent science and creative use of technical tools to custom build screening pipelines for challenging targets. There I worked on numerous biological pathways and diseases, took part in the gestation of new technologies, made major contribution to many discovery projects, and became a better scientist and a team lead. My latest venture with Strateos, Inc. has been to provide the biological foundation for high-throughput assays, with the intension of fully automating drug discovery. I oversaw a small biology team, drove and troubleshooted automated workstations, and interacted with clients, primarily Eli Lilly, and collaborated with internal teams to develop new automation platforms. I have a fascination for the fundamental workings of nature, and a passion for new technology that empowers scientific research. I am incredibly fortunate to have been a part of this world class scientific and technology community here in San Diego. I am curious about what's around the corner.
