I have defined several career goals for myself to do so. First, I desire to have characteristics that define a successful nurse. Developing and enriching core values such as care and treatment of a client’s whole person is important in giving the best care possible. A second goal I have is pledging myself to lifelong learning. As a nurse, education is vital to maintaining current evidence based practices, and I believe this can be accomplished through continuing education. My goal is to stay current by taking courses, continuing and seeking necessary certifications, and by attending conferences. Thirdly, I believe it's important to volunteer my time in community services to those who especially need medical assistance. I have tried to meet these goals by educating middle schoolers by substitute teaching science and healthcare classes and by volunteering my time in church-related health outreach programs. These goals allow me to broaden my perspective on nursing care by interacting with people from various backgrounds.
