Rob Bryngelson’s Expertise Rob Bryngelson led one of the most innovative companies in the energy industry, developing an entirely new means of bringing natural gas to under-served markets around the world. As a co-founder and CEO of Excelerate Energy, Rob and his team revolutionized the LNG industry as the first company to bring floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) solutions to market. Throughout his tenure at Excelerate, the company maintained a dominant position in the industry and grew from concept to over 300 million in EBITDA. Initially focused on LNG trading into North America, the growth of shale gas production necessitated a change in Excelerate’s strategy. Rob shifted the company’s direction from domestic imports to new LNG market creation worldwide and drove one of the most prolific development efforts in the industry. In just over 10 years, he oversaw the completion of more than a dozen new projects with a total capacity in excess of eight billion cubic feet per day in North America, South America, Asia and the Middle East. Throughout this effort, Excelerate maintained an unmatched track record on-time and on-budget delivery, safety and operational availability. Recognizing that innovation is a continuum, Rob also fostered an environment for creativity that brought about new technology development for reducing costs and enhancing performance for both LNG regasification and liquefaction. Highly driven, and motivated by a “never tell me I can’t accomplish something” attitude, Rob built and managed top-tier trading, engineering, operations, development and back-office teams. This experience provides him with a deep understanding of projects from concept through to commercial operation, which pairs well with his hands-on approach. A strong leader capable of building relationships and advancing opportunities at all levels of the industry, Rob is equally comfortable in the board room, at the state house, or on Capitol Hill as well as in the field and with customers and clients. Prior to establishing Excelerate Energy, Rob worked as a Managing Director at El Paso Corporation with responsibility for the North American LNG business and global LNG infrastructure development. His background also includes experience in midstream natural gas, power, water, wastewater and marine infrastructure development. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University as well as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
