Education is the great equalizer, creating opportunity for the most oppressed in a society, and opening doors for those who would otherwise have no options. The utmost goal for a great teacher must be to inspire. It is not enough to simply demand that students learn facts by rote. They must be challenged to think on their own, and be able to recognize the applications in their daily lives. Today’s educators must learn to balance discipline, teaching, fundamentals, and molding student behavior into a productive element of society, all the while instilling creativity and individuality that will ensure that the students stay engaged and inspired. Teachers must be able to act as a role model for students, and they themselves must aspire to a constant pursuit of education for themselves.
