Most of my teaching was in secondary schools though I have worked in primary education and also as an educational advisor. In secondary schools my early experience was as a mathematics and geography teacher. I have post-graduate qualifications as a learning support teacher and for most of my career my special interests included: literacy, numeracy, special needs, behaviour management and social justice in education. The majority, though not all, of my career was spent in schools in low socio-economic areas. Since my retirement I have for the past eight years done some sessional tutoring and lecturing at both Logan and Mt Gravatt campuses of Griffith University in the field of Inclusive Education. I have also been involved in voluntary work at Logan East Community Neighbourhood Association including a role on the management committee, and work in the KNIT life-skills, relationships and parenting programme . In addition I have also undertaken and completed studies in a Master of Education by Research degree. I am currently undertaking studies towards a Ph.D.
