Samantha Morris’s Expertise Sam is a communication and engagement expert specialising in conservation and rural land management as well as the arts and cultural development. She is a freelance writer, an experienced and qualified facilitator, a fundraising development manager, a grant writer, a social media strategist, publisher and an experienced public speaker and trainer. Over Sam's 25 year career she has sat on both sides of the NGO table - as a CEO and General Manager and as a Chairperson, Company Secretary and Board Director. She has consulted to some of Australia's most significant and long-established land and water management groups as well as grassroots, hands-on community action groups and she has been involved in setting the strategic direction of those organisations as well as playing a hands-on role in event management, volunteer engagement, fundraising, design, branding, campaign development, policy making and advocacy. Sam is also an entrepreneur, co-founding the Gold Coast's independent street magazine called Blank Gold Coast, managing a team of more than 30 writers who cover the local music, art, culture, surf, environment, food and lifestyle scenes. With co-founder Chloe Popa, she has grown the print, street-press style magazine from concept to reality, building relationships with a range of local partners, including local government and tourism agencies as well as the music and arts industries and she has overseen the magazine's growth from 2000 magazines a month to 12,000 and grown its online community to be more than 20% of the city's population. Blank was awarded Best Magazine at the Gold Coast Media Awards two years running. Sam has a personal commitment to social justice and sustainability along with cultural development and the advancement of local art and music. She was named one of Queensland's Young Australians of the Year for environmental work in 2001, a Queensland Champion of Conservation in 2013 and received a Golden Gecko (Gold Coast Environment Council) in 2015.
