I graduated in April of 2023, with a Bachacculate of Science studying Sports Administration, a minor in Business Administration, a certificate in Professional Communications and a certificate in Sports Coaching. I specialize in Sports Administration but that information has helped to apply practices to other business fields that are often not covered in typical business majors. During my studies I was fortune to be a student worker for the University of Cincinnati Athletics Department, more specifically on the CAOS team within the Facilities and Operations section. Our job was to help set up events, sporting or otherwise, in the multiple sport facilities around campus and to ensure events run smoothly and with minimal issues. This included taking care of athletes and coaches from our teams and visiting teams, setting up the equipment directly involved in the games and equipment around the stadiums and gate entrances. I was able to apply my studies to work and observe how my supervisors handle situations and understand what was going on in a way I would not otherwise have the opportunity. I was also fortunate to intern at the World DanceSport Federation and help them work towards the Worlds Games Event in Alabama. During the event I was able to work alongside the Breaking Committee, making this event the first time Breaking (Breakdancing) was in a Mega-Sports event. Before the event I was doing more administrative tasks working directly under the General Secretary and his assistant. These tasks included processing membership renewals and applications, processing information of athletes, officials and employees for credentials for TWG, organizing and distributing information from TWG, and assisting in VISA applications for anyone that needed it. During the event, my role was working through problems that arose in different aspects of the event. Meaning, any issues with athlete or officials’ stay, accommodations, busses, officials’ transportation, issues with equipment relating to health, or any other issues that athletes, coaches, officials, or staff were having. With both of these experiences and the completion of my studies I am ready to work in Rochester, NY to improve the job market for the community and in sport for development programs, similar to breaking.
