Then became a certified nursing assistant and worked in skilled nursing facilities such as Tendercare West and Burcham Hills. Later as a nursing assistant took my first job in a hospital in CICU at a hospital formerly named Ingham Regional Medical Center in 2002. Taking on various positions in the hospital from Nursing assistant to Unit Coordinator, I began my journey preparing myself to become a nurse. While working full time at the hospital I became a full time student taking prerequisite courses at Lansing Community College in 2005. I was accepted into the nursing program in spring 2008 and began later that Fall. Once I completed the nursing program my employer McLaren Greater Lansing ( formerly Ingham Regional) extended a nursing internship where I was able to gain great knowledge and transition from being a nursing graduate taking my nursing board exam and becoming an RN. I have worked on the Stroke Unit, Cardiac Unit, and the SICU. In 2012 it was time to venture out from the 10 yrs I had served to McLaren. Moving to Florida I gained a position at Oak Hill Hospital as a Cardiovascular ICU RN. Continuing to build on the knowledge foundation my speciality was caring for post operative patients who had open heart surgery, carotid endarterectomy, complicated heart catheterizations and much more. After a year of working in CVICU I decided to venture out once again but this time going into home health seeing a different side to nursing. Field nursing case managing 30-35 patients at a time caring for the geriatric population you gain a whole new respect for life and nursing. I have since advanced from field nursing and taken on a supervisory position within the company and will continue to advance within my profession.
