Stephanie Long’s Expertise Participate as an active member in the interdisciplinary team during daily patient care rounds. Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) patients through integrated drug distribution and order entry, clinical services (pharmacokinetic consultation, drug therapy monitoring to evaluate appropriateness of use), precept pharmacy practice residents/students from UW School of Pharmacy, continual education support to nurses and physicians, and pharmacy representation in Medical Center committees. Serve as an active team in the Code Team.Clinical responsibilities: Provide drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare providers. Serve as a consultant to physicians and mid-level practitioners in regard to all aspects of drug therapy. Participate in formulary management. Precept pharmacy residents and students from UW School of Pharmacy. Respond to Code Blue, Code Stroke, and Code MI. Distributive responsibilities: Supervise pharmacy technicians in all areas of technical responsibilities. Fill prescriptions for medication and compound pharmaceutical preparations. Conduct a thorough patient profile review for drug duplications, interactions, allergies, appropriate dose, strength, and route of administration at the time each order is received; document relevant information in patient drug therapy.Twelve months of training in all aspects of advanced pharmacy practice: acute patient care, ambulatory patient care, drug information, drug formulary development, and practice management.Work collaboratively with decentralized clinical pharmacists to gain perspective of both acute patient care and ambulatory patient care. Gain experience in medication compounding and preparation of intravenous mixtures. Receive teaching on formulary management and policy development. Mentor by clinical pharmacist in the areas of my interest.
