Stephen Langston’s Expertise From Helper to Welder on the fabrication side constructing Barges, Tug Boats, and Ferries. Journeyman Fitter/Welder on the repair side repairing large commercial, MSC, and Navy Fleet vessels. Structural QA for both Commercial and Navy projects, my career has evolved immensely over the past 10 years. I’ve stayed Vigorous, always looking to improve my performance but more importantly the people around me so as a team, we may all perform to our maximum potential and use that strength to excel at all undertakings. My previous employer produced many opportunities to work with and learn from extremely talented, exemplary craftsmen, and leaders throughout the company which has expanded my overall Maritime knowledge and allowed me to be more proficient throughout the years. Working from the bottom up with a "never quit" mentality has been the main factor of my personal success. Experience during each stage of my career: Welder, Journeyman Fitter/Welder: FCAW, SMAW, MIG, TIG, SAW (held certifications for many positions and materials), Torch Cutting, Heat Straightening, Fitting, Blueprint Reading, Overhead Crane Operations, Forklift Operations, Logistics, and an understanding of contracts. Quality Assurance Specialist: Achieved NDT Level 2 certifications, VT, MT, PT, and UT. Developed test and inspection plans (TIP’s) for bids and awarded contract/vessels in accordance with internal quality requirements (QMS) and contract specifications, including but not limited to NAVSEA Standard Items, U.S. Coast Guard Regulations, American Bureau of Shipping, Classification Societies, and other applicable engineering standards. Provided oversight of project performance and overall quality control checks with crafts and project management, also satisfying contractual requirements. Monitored job progress as appropriate. Supported project efforts to ensure appropriate quality assurance needs were met to move our schedule to the left. Provided detailed Auto Cad repair plans, along with quantity and cost estimations to applicable Superintendents. Assisted in the development of test memos and Process Control Procedures (PCP's) ensuring that final forms and testing practices are in proper format and work scope formed. Assisted in the expansion and quarterly review of our Quality Management System. Self-discipline, willingness to accept responsibility for yard and customer, project organization, detailed scheduling, budget consciousness, and the ability to plan for potential risk and how to mitigate/manage those risks.
