Steve Mckenzie’s Expertise As a competent CDM/EHS Manager at GE Vernova, I bring over 15 years of experience in spearheading environment, health, and safety initiatives in high-risk environments. Currently, I am committed to the execution of a groundbreaking nuclear construction project at Hinkley Point C, England, aimed at powering around 6 million UK homes. My role centres on overseeing the EHS aspects of designing and installing the world's largest steam turbines, generators, and other associated mechanical & electrical components. My journey in EHS management began in the military as a Combat Engineer, where I led teams worldwide on complex construction and demolition projects under challenging conditions. This foundation laid the groundwork for my subsequent roles, each escalating in responsibility and impact. At Kirby Group Engineering, I was personally selected for my expertise, significantly improving EHS performance and compliance, evidenced by reduced accidents and enhanced safety systems. Earlier, at Carrington Power Station, I led a team of EHS Advisors during the construction of an 884MW gas power station, culminating in a role that demanded my oversight of all EHS matters regarding final connections to a National Grid substation site. In my time with MG Group, I evolved from a hands-on construction role to becoming the Group's first HSE Manager, leveraging my NEBOSH qualifications to ensure legislative compliance and adherence to CDM Regulations 2007 (as it was back then). This diverse experience has equipped me with unparalleled insights into managing large-scale, complex projects with a keen focus on safety, health, and environmental management. At GE Vernova, my responsibilities extend beyond conventional EHS management. I am committed to championing GE's EHS policies, ensuring the highest compliance standards, and mitigating risks in a project of monumental scale and complexity. My role is a testament to my dedication to safeguarding team wellbeing while upholding the strictest standards of environmental health and safety on nationally critical infrastructure projects.
