However, although I am formally retired from being a professor, I am still very interested in occasional teaching or in helping people and organisations by applying knowledge and experience to solve problems. Even now, I publish articles in scientific journals from time to time. Extensive troubleshooting experience, with long industrial R&D management experience, in a variety of working environments in the US polymer coatings industry and its suppliers. Most recently, university professor (and dept. chair) doing research and education on polymeric materials and their applications to coatings and related applications. Major awards: Mattiello Award, 2012, from the American Coatings Association for lifetime contributions. Roy W. Tess Award, 2017, from the American Chemical Society for lifetime contributions. Specialties: polymer and organic coating physical properties, characterization, weathering durability and coating service life prediction, corrosion protection, flocculation mechanisms, film formation processes, paint technology history, R & D, education; trouble-shooting and aiding art conservators.
