Sumita Basu’s Expertise Specialties: Technical Program Management, Strategy and Operational Excellence, Data Analytics, Big Picture Mentality, Semiconductor Technology Development, Supply Chain Management, Negotiation Skills, Women's Leadership. Sumita Basu leads the Machine Learning program management initiatives within Apple Cloud Services. Prior to this she led the program management for the Artificial Intelligence and Software Architecture teams at AMD (Xilinx). Unified Edge to Cloud AI, EoU SW were the focus of her past programs there. Her passion to promote diversity and inclusion at the workplace led her to be a valued member and co-sponsor of the Women in Technology program at Xilinx. During her 17 year journey at Intel, she demonstrated leadership in a breadth of many roles from fab technology, supply chain management, technical program management to strategy and business operations. As a Senior Process Engineer, Sumita delivered the world’s first lead-free patterning process for Intel’s far back-end bump technology. She has developed multiple Si processes and implemented numerous lean solutions for high-volume manufacturing (e.g. usage of sustainable/cost effective materials, defect reduction). She has pioneered creative affordability and velocity strategies for supply chain, yielding cost savings of over 100M and >30% reduction in factory ramp-up time. As Chief of Staff/TA to 3 executives at Intel, she has successfully delivered ultra-small form-factor programs, IP strategies, business development and operational excellence frameworks. As Chair of the Executive Board for Women in Intel, she championed the professional advancement of both women and minorities in the workplace. Sumita believes in collaborating strongly with global partners and stakeholders in Engineering, Marketing, Field Sales, Operations and Services to ensure product feature definitions/milestones are accurately captured and met on target. Aligning with cross functional areas, closing gaps, promoting learning on the latest technology and making key decisions with a customer-centricity focus are some of her key attributes. She was recognized by SWE as an Emerging Leader (award) and by Business Insider as one of the 26 most powerful engineers in the world. Sumita holds a PhD in chemical engineering from RPI. Her dissertation work involved research with NASA in preparation of a micro-gravity fluid physics experiment for the International Space Station.
