She is a passionate scientist and science educator with successful experience in STEM education, training students for international competitions, promoting space science and exploration through programs, engaging science exploration at science centres or creating completely catered programs for nursing students in Qatar. www.suzannemonir.com She was awarded the Science Teacher of Ontario's Irwin Talesnick award, with nominations coming from colleagues, students and their parents. She has been involved and initiated a great number of STEM projects such as utsoniss.com, as a director of education for enterprise in space academy, as a mentor and trainer for olympiad competitions provincially and nationally, and creating an education channel in Lucid science (lucidscience.ca). She continues to do work in space in addition to her regular science classes, working with AEXA aiding students to compete in international space programs and 3D printing competitions. Suzanne has also worked in teacher training, where she has developed a teacher trainer program for science teachers in Nigeria. Suzanne has also presented and practiced using online technology for inquiry learning using various programs including blackboard and Moodle. Suzanne also initiated a FAST grant proposal for a microgravity experiment on a cube satellite in a collaboration with a dentistry, microfluidics and aerospace groups from the University of Toronto. Currently, she is creating a youtube channel in collaboration called Lucid Science and writes science education material for Enterprise in Space. In general, science and learning are a passion for Suzanne. She is a lifelong learner that enjoys igniting that same excitement in others.
