Tanveer Nandhra’s Expertise A highly focused financial services professional with an enviable record of generating substantial revenue and driving change for a multinational financial services institution across Africa, Middle East, Asia and Europe. I am best recognised for delivering several ‘firsts’ and ‘landmark solutions’ within the bank and a multi-award winner of several Women in Business awards. Having joined the Standard Chartered Graduate programme 16 years ago, I am now the Head of Financial Markets in Mauritius. Being recognised by the Financial Times in 2018 as one of Top 50 Emerging Leaders globally was one of my proudest moments. My greatest achievements have been around closing several landmark transactions. The highlights were the execution and closure of the first ever local currency Interest Rate Swap, and a funding transaction to a Tier 1 Bank. My work around Diversity and Inclusion is also important to me. As an inspirational leader, I head up coaching programmes and moderating sessions to mentor and coach senior businessmen and women, which are well received. I participated in a two-hour interview on national radio and was recognised as the Financial Markets Trailblazing woman of the Year 2020 for my work around diversity. My drive to excel and aspire to do well, stems from a young age. Becoming a leader and being successful has always been important to me. Initially, success was about promotions. This has evolved into helping others to succeed though my work in the wider community and mentoring graduates and senior women. In line with this, I co-launched the 30% club in Africa which is focused on seeing a 30% representation of women on boards in East Africa. What excites me is the ability to build for the long term. I am drawn to a role where I have the power to influence, negotiate and make a real impact. On a personal level, I am fascinated with alternative healing treatments, yoga and history. I love to travel; to date I have visited 28 countries and have a further 30 on my list. I spend my time on volunteering and in 2020, as a volunteer with the Ramgharia Youth Association, we have distributed 250 tonnes of food to 78,000 Kenyan households for Covid 19 in 2020.
