He was previously the director and CEO of ASEISMIC Solutions Inc., a University of Calgary spinoff company developing software for induced earthquake risk mitigation, founded to help bring solutions developed through his research at the University of Calgary to industry. This work focused on the development of a software tool for induced seismicity risk mitigation using geomechanical modelling. During this time, he was also a Research Associate at the University of Calgary working on induced earthquakes caused by hydraulic fracturing. Before that, he completed a postdoctoral position at the University of Alberta where he worked in the Microseismic Industry Consortium, conducting research on seismic source (moment tensor) inversion and applications. This included synthetic tests on the reliability of source inversion in hydraulic fracturing environments, investigating the fracturing behaviors of reservoirs from microseismic datasets, and stress inversion from seismic source mechanisms. He obtained his PhD in Geophysics from University College Dublin, Ireland, where he conducted research on seismic sources in volcanic environments.
