He has an ongoing passion for design and, as personal projects, created a unique heated concrete stool for outdoors exhibited at InDesign Sydney. As well he has worked poverty alleviation for developing nations and has an ongoing project to develop low cost cooking stoves and more recently, the solar purification of water via pasteurization. He also has completed the Ideo program, Human Centered Design to further gain insight into the difficult task of implementing these projects. His schooling was at James Ruse Agricultural High School followed by a design education at UTS (formerly Sydney College at the Arts) with a 4 year Industrial design degree. James Ruse is a selective public school and has always been for many years the highest performing school in NSW and Thomas was very proud to achieve the AJ. Gilmour award for Physics in year 11 as well as an excellent 435 aggregate in the HSC. At UTS his final year project was a mobile satellite phone and data system for remote area use. This was at the very beginning of the mobile communications we know so well today and featured a precursor of packet based SMS messaging that later became so popular. Natio
