I did just experience an incredible bit of serendipity during some dark days trying to offer care and support to a terminally ill family member. For patients and families, lining up post acute (post hospital visit) care is a difficult task, made even more wearisome under the stress of an illness, a hospital system motivated to move patients out quickly, and fragmented, poorly designed online resources. One week after my family experienced the anguish of lining up care, by chance I meet Renee Donnelly, the charismatic CEO of ContigoU, a Hotels.com-style website that allows patients and family members to easily find and compare Skilled Nursing Rehab facilities. Renee is no ordinary entrepreneur, she's a former nurse at Kaiser Permanente with 25 years worth of experience in healthcare systems and deep understanding of patient concerns. She has the discipline of a military vet and the patience of a mom to deal with a husband, two teenagers, and now... me. I'm pleased to join ContigoU with a chance to help people in need.
