Welding and iron work was, and still is something I have a passion for. As a teenager I was supervisor, lead welder and crane operator on large non prefab jobs, building anything from restaurants and tortilla factories, to imaging centers and hotels. When new employees would come in, I would teach them the skills they needed to perform there job well. This is when I discovered that I like to teach, and pass my skills along. I now work at Shaw Industries as an Industrial Maintenance Testing Administrator. I hired in to Shaw as A Plant Mechanic, where I would do everything from lift truck repair and machinery repair on breakdown calls, to electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, fabrication and welding. Later I decided that I wanted to become an Electrician at Shaw, so I went through Shaw's START program and came out a certified electrician. After graduation I stayed at the START program's plant as their mechanic/electrician, lead over trainees, and also started helping with teaching different classes from metal working to pumps, piping, power transmission, etc. Finally I ended up in the role I'm in now at the START Program performing all aspects of testing on both electricians and mechanics. This testing is all day hands on testing which allows lower rate associates to get promotions to higher grade mechanics and electricians Shaw Industries
