Not exactly airplanes, but learning about refrigerants and TEVs from my mentors at Sporlan taught me valuable lessons in the professional world - especially those of great leadership, team dynamics, and customer relationships. It also opened the first door in my personal aviation adventure; it was during this time at Sporlan that I pursued my private pilot certificate. After 11 awesome months of learning how to fly and a few more semesters of school, I picked up another internship at Steelville Manufacturing. This time, I was running machines and making blocks of metal into slightly cooler blocks of metal; ones that would eventually make their way onto fighter jets or reconnaissance aircraft. This experience proved invaluable to me as I moved forward with my education. Ultimately, my experience with machining, analysis skills learned at school, and my passion for aviation lead me to L3Harris Technologies, where I was given the opportunity to repair a fleet of reconnaissance aircraft, the RC-135 fleet. I fix big spy jets, in a nutshell. It's pretty sweet. Plus, my passion for airplanes was set ablaze, and I continued to pursue an instrument rating, a commercial pilot certificate, and a multi-engine rating - with the intent to eventually get my instructor ratings and then share my passion with prospective new pilots.
