Focus your team on a critical few focus areas that will make the difference and where you can lead solving customer problems truly better than anybody else. Focus means saying "NO"​. This is by far the hardest thing to do. 2. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL ALIGNMENT Craft the shared vision/plan together with the key internal stakeholder who are typically living on "different planets"​ (e.g. HQ and the Field, Sales and Marketing, Pre-Sales Engineers and Customer Support etc.) and align all functional plans against the laser-focused shared vision/plan. This is an unbelievable force multiplier. 3. "NO EXCUSES" EXECUTION Focus on the top goals, make sure everyone knows the specific job to be done to achieve these goals, keep score, set up a regular cycle of follow-through where team members hold each other accountable for achieving the outcomes with a “we will not let each other fail” attitude. The last 10 words in this paragraph are the most important ones. 4. GREAT WORK ENVIRONMENT At the end outstanding customer value and superior customer experience is created by the best talent in the industry loving to come to work every day. This is foundation of everything. Period. So far it has been a great life and I do not regret anything. A big thank you for everybody I worked with on this journey so far. Onwards and upwards!
