In my next post at York I joined the research group investigating the DNA binding properties of integrase from Streptomyces phage φC31. It is currently the most widely used integrase for genome manipulations, with possible applications in gene therapy. The aim of previous post was to increase the production of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies in Chinese Hamster Ovary cells. These proteins are used in targeted therapies against cancer and autoimmune disorders; therefore an increased yield could lead to improved availability and access to the treatment for patients.
