  I’m a researcher, educator, writer, and so much more... I'm a researcher. I began my career conducting qualitative research as an undergraduate student in the McNair Scholars Program. I conducted my very first focus group with college students of color who shared their experiences with racial microaggressions. Since then, I have continued to expand my skills, knowledge, and abilities by working on various education-related projects at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the UChicago Consortium on School Research. I'm an educator. I also worked at St. Augustine College, a Latinx serving institution, as a sociology and early childhood education adjunct instructor. Being an educator was one of my most fulfilling experiences since I was able to impact and empower my students and see positive changes in my students in one semester. While I no longer teach there I still continue to mentor and guide Latinx women in their academic and professional endeavors. I'm a writer. I'm an academic writer since I've written published articles for peer-reviewed journals but I'm also a poet. I balance my technical side with my creative side and watch these two sides blend. And so much more... I am deeply interested in how our systems and institutions have constructed racial-cultural inequities/inequality and how these systems and institutions continue to reproduce, perpetuate, and sustain white supremacy. I am also as deeply interested in how historically marginalized communities and people resist, heal, and thrive in the U.S. and all over the world.
