I completed two internships simultaneously while going to school full-time. I interned at Ft. Lauderdale Hospital and Atlantic Shores Hospital. I ran group therapy with adults, children and adolescents struggling with co-occurring disorders and addiction. In the second internship, I was responsible for providing behavior therapy to children diagnosed with autism in the home setting. Although both internships were rewarding, I gravitated more towards applied behavior analysis. I saw a tremendous progress with the caseload I was given and grew to love empirically based treatment. I have worked with age groups ranging from childhood to the geriatric population facing challenges such as developmental, neurological, behavioral and intellectual disabilities and disorders. Now, I am part of an interdisciplinary team that works hard to help children diagnosed with autism develop the skills they need to be as independent as possible and engage in functional communication. My current administrative role allows me to not only impact the lives of the population we serve but lead a team of therapists and registered behavior technicians.
