Wafaa Sayed’s Expertise Wafaa S. Sayed received her BSc degree (honors) from Electronics and Communications Engineering Department and MSc and PhD degrees from Engineering Mathematics Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt in 2012, 2015 and 2020, respectively. Currently, she is an assistant professor at Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt. She participated as a researcher and senior researcher in several research grants from different organizations: Cairo University, Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STIFA), and Information Technology Academia Collaboration (ITAC). Her research interests include chaos theory, chaotic cryptography, fractional dynamics, FPGA realization, mathematical software and adaptive personalized e-learning. She has 48 publications, H-index 12, and 372 citations based on Scopus database (September 2023). Her publications are subdivided into 25 peer reviewed papers published in international journals, 19 in international conferences and 5 book chapters. She served as a reviewer for several international journals and conferences. Dr. Sayed was awarded by the faculty in 2016 for being a distinguished assistant lecturer. She won the 1st place prize in the Masters Forum competition of the 22nd International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS 2015), poster award in the 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON 2016), nomination for the best paper award on Electronics, Circuits and Systems in the 7th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST 2018) and the 2nd place prize and silver medal in the category of information technology projects in the 5th Cairo International Exhibition of Innovation (2018). Her paper entitled “What are the correct results for the special values of the operands of the power operation?” was cited in 754-2019 - IEEE Standard for Floating-Point Arithmetic Revision of IEEE Std 754-2008. The paper proposed a formal definition of pow(x,y) for special values of the operands, which is used in the revised standard to define missed cases of pow(x,y) in the earlier version. The MSc. thesis entitled "Fractional order complex chaotic systems: FPGA implementation and applications" by Sara M. Mohamed and co-supervised by Dr. Sayed won Prof. Mostafa Ghanem Award for Best Thesis at NU for the annual year 2022-2023.
