Dr. Sun possesses a strong publication record in refereed journals and book chapters in community health, mental health, gerontechnology, geriatric and dementia care, as well as an active and diversified track record of conducting interdisciplinary research in gerontology, including Tri-Council, national and provincial funding from Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Canadian Frailty Network, Ontario Trillium Foundation, CABHI SPARK-ON program, and Ministry of Colleges and Universities Micro-credentials Challenge Fund. As a nursing professor, my teaching philosophy is to continually advance my dimensions of nursing scholarship through continuing education and life-long learning. I value Boyer (1996)’s five dimensions of scholarship: discovery, integration, application, teaching, and engagement. My teaching goal is to become a scholar who strives to be a good role model for the nursing faculty and my students by providing excellence in academic leadership, and the integration of evidence-based practice, education and research. I believe in the importance of working collaboratively with inter-professionals, the nursing faculty and the nursing students to develop a program of research that will contribute to the development of nursing knowledge.
