  I received my PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), USA and BS & MS in Chemical Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals University (KFUPM), KSA. I am a registered Professional Engineer in ON, Canada. Currently I am working as a professor at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), UAE. Before joining AUS, I worked as a Director of Research at BIOREM Inc., Canada, Assistant Professor at KFUPM, and Post doctoral fellow at the University of California, USA, and at the Hazardous Substance Management Center (HSMRC) at NJIT, USA. On my two sabbaticals, I worked as a visiting Professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada. At AUS and KUPM, I have taught many different courses including but not limited to Introduction to chemical engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Process Design, Safety and Economics, Kinetics and Reactor Design, Waste Management and Control in Chemical Engineering, Senior Design Projects I & II, Air Pollution Control, Process Water Pollution Control, Introduction to Statistical Analysis, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mindset, and Environmental Engineering (Graduate level). In addition to teaching, I have supervised several graduate students, and have carried out internal and external (Industry, National Research Council, Canada, etc.) funded research projects as the principal investigator. I am specialized in biofiltration, bioreactors for air pollution control, bioreactor media development and hazardous waste management. I have extensive experience in lab, pilot and full scale bioreactor operations and bioreactor media development for odor and VOC control.
